Okay Last Post I Swear!
So I promised new photos of my car but I'm lame and haven't taken any good ones yet. So here's all I have to offer.
From the Ford Site: I got a 2003 roughly 8 month old Ford Escape Limited. Pretty much what you'll see on the site, except the guy before me had almost every option possible, including parking sensors, a sunroof, heated seats and tow package. It's also a 4WD.
My new mid-size SUV is a Dark Shadow Grey (my absolute color of choice, I got lucky) with all black Leather interior, sweeeet. (Choose the second color option on the site)
I wish I would have saved the pic from the dealer's site but you get the idea. I swear I'll take some photos later.
Here's a tip if you plan on buying an Escape in the bay area. First off you want the XLT, forget the XLS, WEAK! Second, purchase a subscription to CarFax, I looked up 20 cars on there. Here's what I learned, every single friggin 2003 ford escape except for one was previously a rental! I guess people don't sell their Escapes that soon. The one exception was the Limited one I got. It has one previous owner, and was traded in at a Porsche/Audi dealer. It was perfect and cost more but well worth it! One car out of 20! Sheesh. Plus the rentals looked pretty used, very annoying. Also that Ford Certified Pre-Owned warranty/inspection thing is a sham. Basically they're giving you the warranty that comes with the car already. No bonus there. They just say they did an inspection too, whoopity doo! If you buy from a reputable dealer it should be just fine. Bring a friend who knows something about cars too. That's if you're like me and only have a rudimentary knowledge of car guts.
Last general tip: Buy a subscription to Consumer Reports. I love that site. Plus it has great car reviews on it and is reputable.
I really wanted a mid-size SUV, I love bigger cars. I got sucked in by the buy a beetle, by a mini, small car craze for awhile but I realized that a) beetles have horrible reviews and they suck and b) minis are generally too pricey, plus they're SMALL. I easily put two patio chairs in my cargo area tonight without having to lay any seats down or having to try to find a way for them to fit. My current car has a V6, 3.0L engine. The same as my Toyota Camry so I'm not burning anymore gas then I did before. I didn't get some horrible resource hog. Remember it's a mid-size SUV, not a 4Runner or a Pathfinder, or an Escalade.
