Just When You Thought....
there was nothing going on this week. BLAMMO! You get 2 new evites in your inbox today. I actually had to cancel dinner plans tonight in order to have a night to myself this week. I got an invite to something last night but I wanted to chill out so I reclaimed Monday night for myself as well.
Tomorrow night is 049 Karaoke Night #5 at Shawn's art/loft space in the SOMA. It's a great space and he has a pretty kick ass monthly party there. Karaoke is a bi-weekly event. I've yet to miss one! The Karaoke nights started out pretty small, maybe 10-12 people or so. The last one was surprisingly big. Ton of people showed up. Tomorrow night's promises to be another big one considering the number of people that have RSVP'ed on evite. It's good fun though. There's a bar, a pole for all those wanna be strippers out there, plenty of songs to sing to, doggies, ping pong and swing dancing!
Mark took some photos from 049 Karaoke Night #3. I brought Toby that night. The pics are a bit hard to see since copying photos down from the printroom site doesn't get you the best quality photos.
Here's a photo of a group of us singing "Happy Trails" at the end of the night (note little Toby up on stage with us in the bottom left):
A nice crowd shot of people dancing and carrying on:
Me, in between Randall and Andy on the couch:
Bridget brought her sweet little pooch Jewel to the last one. We both agreed to bring both our pups tomorrow night. Should be intersting! At least they're both great around big crowds. Just let them roam around, no worries!
So that covers Wed night! Thursday some friends and I may go see Troy. Yes I know the reviews sucked but it's got Orlando Bloom in it, super hottie. Oh wait, there's also Brad Pitt and Eric Bana... triple the hotties! Yup, worth seeing. Friday, the band Theo's in this week is playing a show at the Starry Plough in Berkeley. They're called The Teenage Harlets and have been around for a bit. Should be fun. After we catch them we're jetting back to the city to head to Jackie's friend Joy's mega 80's party on Fillmore. Gotta figure out what to wear for that one! Can't beat the 80's though, best decade ever! Saturday Erin is DJ'ing a night called "Death before Disco". I will hopefully be able to catch that one.
Hey at least it's better than having nothing going on, right? Like last weekend was pretty quiet. Of course we all found things to do anyway, which included starting out party'ing in Santa Cruz sat. night... winding up in SF with the santa cruz folks later that night and getting trapped in SF Sunday morning due to the Bay to Breakers. That sucked! Had to wait til 10am when the embarcadero streets opened up in order to get home. That was a LONG saturday night to say the least. I met a whole bunch of new Santa Cruz folks though since I was there visiting my old friend Jack who was staying at some surfer buddies house down there. Nice group!
I guess this much activity makes those alone nights that much more wonderful. And at least I don't have to worry about being alone or not having anything to do. There's always something going on somewhere! :)

Karaoke...hmmm, in LA, I'd go. Here is St. Louis (MO), I'd be scared to. Lot's of....narcissistic red necks and although they are lovely people to drink with, I'd get tired of all the yeehawing ( it's not in a cool rockabilly/hillbilly way either, trust me) and all the Free Bird requests. More like Heehaw on meth. Not cool.
Toby is a little boo boo!
