I like this photo of Livvy in her bed much better. The other photo makes her look much bigger than her bed. This one shows the actual size better.
I've been trying to knit a Chenille scarf for my stepmom. I can't figure out the stupid beginner pattern!! I can knit a cat bed but I can't do a stupid scarf? Argh! I even called the
lion brand yarn help line at one point for help on how to read what the heck K2B meant! Once I got that figured out it still didn't help me get past two rows on it. For some reason I either wind up with the wrong amount of stitches or big loops. Chenille is very hard to knit with. It's not stretchy at all and requires you to pull it tight to avoid causing loops. The worst part about this pattern is that it creates a kind of twisting pattern so I think I'm having trouble figuring out what to grab to knit the next row with. It's hard to explain. I'm not even sure if I'm knitting to the back and purling to the back of the stitches properly. If any knitters are out there reading this, help! I'm probably going to have to break down and take a knitting class at some point.
The pattern is called the One Skein Knitted Scarf. I can't get a direct link to it, but you can go to Free Knitting Patterns on the
lion brand yarn website and navigate to Accesories > Chenille > One Skein Scarf.
Here's a copy of the pattern:
Skill Level: Beginner
SIZE: Approx 7" wide x 60" long.
Materials: Lion Brand Chenille Thick and Quick, Art. #950 (100 yd. skeins): 1 skein in #108 Dusty Blue or the color of your choice. Knitting needles size 11 or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 2 sts = 1" in pat st. TO INSURE PROPER SIZE, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
Pattern Stitch:
Row 1 (WS): K1b, p1b, *k1b, k 1, p1b, p 1*, rep from * to * once for scarf (or to last 4 sts for other widths), on last 4 sts, k1b, k 1, p1b, k1b.
Row 2 (RS): K2b, p 1, p1B, *k 1, k1b,p 1, p1b*, rep from * to * once for scarf (or to last 2 sts for other widths), on last 2 sts, k2b.
Scarf: Loosely cast on 14 sts. Work in pat st for 60". Bind off loosely in pat.
Here's a question, what does it mean to start on the WS vs. the RS first? I mean don't you always start with the RS? How do you start with the WS? Anyone?
