Look What the Cat Dragged In!

Livvy must really love me! This sucker is a) a dirty rat and b) about 5 inches long, body-wise. GROSS!

I made Toby make sure it was dead. He went over and sniffed it, yup, it was dead. I tried to talk him into getting rid of it for me but he's a dog and only can do so much I guess. Whatever! Then I pleaded with the cat to get rid of it but she could care less. Eventually I had to get plastic bags to pick it up with. Suffice to say it scared the crap out of me on the way to the bathroom last night.

At least my friend had a nice email to send me about it:
"It’s funny that rats sleep on their sides, just like humans. Did you wake him up and shoo him outside?"

How to Date a Gemini

This is from ehow.com, by way of Edna Million.

1. Take your Gem out for a meal and a long talk. Conversation is a major mode of romance for them.

2. Invite your date to movies, lectures, concerts, sporting events - anything lively and filled with stimulation. Your Gemini will eat it up and be filled with even more energy!

3. Keep in mind that Geminis see all sides of an argument. They are quick-witted and curious, although they may seem baffling or illogical. Get used to it!

4. Understand that Geminis are freedom-loving and will not be forced into a traditional role. It may take time for your date to even appear truly interested in you.

5. Buy your date a book or magazine subscription.

6. Be creative and have fun! The worst thing you can do to a Gemini is be boring.

And here's a couple of tips from ehow:

- Remember, we're all unique individuals, and there is a lot more to a person's astrological makeup than a sun sign.

- Getting to know another person takes time. Pay attention, and if you're unsure about what your date wants, ask. Consideration, reliability and kindness count for a lot.

Good for a laugh at least! And I absolutely agree with point 6. I'm perpetually bored and I don't need any help being more bored, thanks.

LOST

If you're as big a fan of Lost as I am and are interested in some pretty cool theories about the show, then read this.

If you don't want to read any potential spoilers then skip it.

If you don't watch the show at all it's still a somewhat interesting read. You really should watch the show though.

Really.

Today's Horrorscope

Okay I lied. That wasn't my last post. I'm sick. I have insomnia. I can't sleep right now, so for your reading pleasure I will amuse you with today's horrorscope.

Marian's Daily Gemini Forecast

Quickie: You feel as if you've been on a long journey. Everybody's ready to welcome you back.

Overview: Anyone who's in the mood to shout definitely won't be allowed to get past 'go' in your world today. You're after peace, quiet and a bit of elegance. Play your cards right and you'll have it.

Daily singles love (by Astrology.com)

If you encounter a roadblock in your romantic path, your instinct may be to just head in another random direction. But there's something worth finding on the other side.

Weekly romance (by Astrology.com)

At the start of the week, limitations -- especially in the romantic realm -- have a way of bothering you to no end. You want it all (you certainly deserve it all), and you want it now; what's the problem with that? Wednesday, your intellectual side knows that as restless as your heart can be, you need to put in the work (on yourself and on any relationship) to achieve that fabulous level of happiness. Patience is key, and through deep thought (and asking the right questions) you can take love to a whole new level -- especially on Thursday, Friday and the weekend.

NOLA Here I Come!

This will be my last post before I take off on Wednesday for my trip to New Orleans. I'll be gone for 5 days this time. I'm really looking forward to it. It will be nice to go out of town with friends. I've had a nasty cold/flu/whathaveyou for weeks now that doesn't want to go away and I'm looking pretty tired and drawn particularly after an emotionally draining sickly weekend.

I'm hoping this trip can revitalize me a bit. I have positive hopes for it! It will probably be cold there but this time around I'm packing for cold weather unlike last time. Heh. Also a few things I want to do this time around that I missed last time:
- Take a plantation tour
- Take a swamp tour
- Dine at The Court of Two Sisters
- Have my cards read by a VooDoo Priestess (got an appt for friday already!)

As I did last time I'll post thoughts on my trip. I know I'm really behind on posting things but I will catch up soon particularly when I'm feeling better. I can't overdo things on this trip since I'm still sick and need to get well so I'll focus on not going to crazy. Oh, I hope I win money at Harrah's again like I did last time! Woo!

Closer

This is a movie I really really liked even though the characters were not likable per se. But the story was very compelling and the dialogue was brilliant. Definitely one of my favorites of 2004.

If you haven't heard the main song from the movie it's by Damien Rice and it's called The Blower's Daughter. I downloaded it from itunes. It's such a moody and great song. It suits the movie perfectly. This movie doesn't really have a soundtrack since there is really only one main song in the movie. Thank god for itunes!

I'm not one to post lyrics but here they are....

The Blower's Daughter
Damien Rice

And so it is
Just like you said it would be
Life goes easy on me
Most of the time
And so it is
The shorter story
No love, no glory
No hero in her sky

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

And so it is
Just like you said it should be
We'll both forget the breeze
Most of the time
And so it is
The colder water
The blower's daughter
The pupil in denial

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes...

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
Leave it all behind?

I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind...
My mind...my mind...
'Til I find somebody new

Another song associated with the movie is Caramel by Suzanne Vega. Another itunes purchase I'd definitely recommend. Once again the lyrics suit the movie very well.

Caramel
Suzanne Vega

It won't do
to dream of caramel,
to think of cinnamon
and long for you.

It won't do
to stir a deep desire,
to fan a hidden fire
that can never burn true.

I know your name,
I know your skin,
I know the way
these things begin;

But I don't know
how I would live with myself,
what I'd forgive of myself
if you don't go.

So goodbye,
sweet appetite,
no single bite
could satisfy...

I know your name,
I know your skin,
I know the way
these things begin;

But I don't know
what I would give of myself,
how I would live with myself
if you don't go.

It won't do
to dream of caramel,
to think of cinnamon
and long
for you.
