The Sneeze Brightens My Day

Have you been reading The Sneeze lately? If not you're really missing out on this gem of a piece. Recently Steve ran a little contest to identify what a photo was... hilarious!

When you have a spare moment in your day, read:
What May It Be???

While you're there be sure to read "Steve, Don't Eat It!" and "Captain Avenger". Both series are pure hilarity. I mean it.

I know I know... I'm recycling old blog posts, but I'm sure not everyone wants to dig through my old posts to hear about how great The Sneeze was a million years ago. So here it is in a nice new post for you.

Hahahaha, okay I just went and re-read my favorite "Steve, Don't Eat It!" post about Beggin' Strips. Never ceases to get me!

w.bloggar

I'm going to try using w.bloggar again so I can have what I'm listening to post with my blog posts. I gave up using it year before last because it was a pretty crappy program. It's improved by leaps and bounds since then.

I just wish they'd add album thumbnails and links to buy the album for you as well. Kind of like how Xanga and other sites do it. At least they have artist info. Maybe one day in a million years they'll catch up. I like blogger but they are sooo behind what some other blogging sites can do. Protected entries would rock too. At least I can store my blog on my own server.

If you'd like to add this type of functionality to your blog then do the following:

- Download the Windows Media Player 9 Series Fun Pack

- Read this guide: Blogging to a Different Tune: Using Windows XP and the Windows Media Player 9 Blogging Plug-In

I blogged about this a long time ago but I wasn't nice enough to include links to all this junk so I had to search all over for it again. This time I'm doing it right.

Next up: Tagboards

I'm really running out of room on this blog for extra junk so I'm going to have to keep working on my re-design of this sucker. I should have something new soon. I'm attempting to break out of the blogger.com mold and put something new in here.

I *heart* Master Shake

Man do I love shake.. I'm shake obsessed! I'm a shake-o-holic! My ex tells me I talk like shake now. I don't necessarily thinks that's a BAD thing per se. It makes sense though since Shake doesn't usually make sense and neither do I.

I love this Shake Soundboard!

Google AdSense & Ebay

Two New Updates!

1) I joined Google's AdSense program!

If you scroll down the page and view the right side column you will see that I now feature very colorful little AdSense Ads.

Why do this?

Well every click on an AdSense ad makes me a teeny bit of pocket change. So if you click on an ad when you come to my page, you'll be contributing to the cause. So thanks in advance if you do so!

2) I have a new listing on Ebay!

Juicy Couture 8 Charm Bracelet!

Being the shiny object person that I am I HAD to have this... It's so beautiful but I should have listened to myself when I kept saying, "I don't wear gold, I don't wear gold...".

My loss your gain! Come on! You know you want this hot bracelet... You will buy this hot bracelet...

Okay so in summary:

1) Click on Ads
2) Buy this bracelet

Thanks for stopping by! Can you tell how exciting this post is by all the !! 's?

And It Was All Yellow

For those times when life is really depressing... go to the store for 2 lightbulbs and walk out with 10. Everyone's a sucker for a pretty package.

Change of Scenery

Sometimes when I'm really depressed I'll sleep on the couch instead of in my nice comfy bed. When an ex of mine and I broke up a few years back had been living together at the time. I felt horrible sleeping alone in my room at night so I'd go sleep on the couch instead. I did that for weeks. I didn't do that again for years but in the last year I started doing it again... one day here and there every so often. I'm not sure really sure why... I mean, I won't really be depressed yet I'll feel so much better sleeping on the couch instead. I guess it's become associated with me being comforted somehow. I'm glad.

Suprising Sunday Deaths

Sandra Dee died today at age 62 of kidney failure. I remember her best from Gidget which was a movie I LOVED when I was a kid. She was married to Bobby Darrin the singer and their lives were featured recently in a movie Kevin Spacey did called Beyond the Sea. Which is also the title of my favorite Bobby Darrin song. 62's pretty young... Bobby Darrin died in 1973 at age 37! He had heart problems that eventually led to his early death. Bobby married Sandra Dee when she was 16 after a two month engagement and their son Dodd was born a year later. Bobby was about 8 years older than her.

This one was a shocker.
Author Hunter S. Thompson Kills Himself. If you recall it wasn't that long ago that Spalding Gray wandered off one day and was missing for awhile until his body was pulled from the east river. Tortured writers.

Oh Bonnie Raitt's dad, John Raitt died today too. He was a big star in musicals apparently but I don't even recall seeing the movie 'Carousel' which he was known for. I probably did but it was a million years ago...

Fun Reading

I wrote a recent post on a dating article written by Bonnie Burton. I'd like to add that the main dating page she wrote is also very amusing and gives you guides to every guy type. So you can either read up on the type of guy you're dating or the guys you've dated in the past and go Ahhh, Ohhh... Uggghhh.

An excerpt:
"At some point as a girl, I can guarantee you will be dating one of these. Sometimes we call them "emotional cripples" because they have a habit of being happy, upset and ultra-indifferent at the wrong moments. They also tend to be extremely selfish and have huge egos which may confuse you after realizing they harbor low self-esteem as well."

Check out her guide on "How to Date Emotional Cripples".

Coachella 2005

I'm headed back to Coachella this year! I last went in 2003 and it was one of the best trips I've taken in recent years. Palm Springs is gorgeous and we had a fabulous house with a pool and a hot tub to lounge around by. We got the same type of house this year, but bigger. I'll be going with Fred and Katherine again. Joining us will be Nate and Jeremy. Jenn and her girlfriend CeCe may be staying one night with us as well.

I keep getting asked who's playing and there's so many bands I can't recall most of them at the time. So I'm including a list. I'm putting a *** next to the ones I'd like to see. By the way I have to add that seeing the Cocteau Twins again and Bauhaus as well is so cool. Peter Murphy! Daniel Ash! I've seen Nine Inch Nails a few times back in the day so that will be a nice trip back in time. And I LOVE Prodigy! They are so great live. I saw them at the Warfield years ago when their "The Fat of the Land" album was big. What a great album. Can't wait.

Oh if you're in the SF area Bauhaus will be at the Warfield August 17th and 18th. The Cocteau Twins will NOT be touring though... ALSO Dead Can Dance is touring again! Europe only so far but they'll add North American dates for this fall. This is like a revival of 1989-1991 for me. Gosh has it been that long?!

We'll probably go to more shows Saturday and go later on Sunday to maximize our pool time. Keep in mind that a lot of the Coachella bands will come through town (here in SF) either before or after the tour so keep an eye out for your favorites if you can't make it down there.

Translation Is...

Okay I had re-post this link from Jenn on her blog. She dedicated the post to me!

This site is "Dedicated to the misuse of Chinese characters (Hanzi or Kanji) in Western culture", aka bad chinese character tattoos!

*Warning:* Naked butt photo on this site, otherwise ok for viewing.

I have a chinese character on my left arm, the dragon is holding it in it's claws. A guy at work can read Chinese and he came up to me and said hrm, does that mean 'Hope'? Yes indeed it does! Hope being my middle name. My tattoo artist Sunny knew what she was doing. I think.

See What I'm Saying?

Crispin Glover in Willard

By the way have you heard of the new film he directed? It's called "What Is This?"

Here's the snippet about it from ew.com.

"I describe it as being the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe, and how to get home, as tormented by a hubristic, racist inner psyche.'' That's Crispin Glover, star of Back to the Future, explaining his aptly titled, nearly-a-decade-in-the-making directorial debut What Is It?, which premiered to mass puzzlement at last month's Sundance Film Festival.

How can you see it? Since the movie features graphic sexuality, melted live snails, and a cast with Down syndrome, Glover knows it is unlikely to find a distributor. ''Genuine counterculture will make people uncomfortable,'' he insists. So he plans to take it on the road, hosting screenings himself. It's the first film in a trilogy, and he's already shot the second movie, called It Is Fine! Everything Is Fine! He's sure it will be ''the best movie I ever have anything to do with."

Carlos D. Part Deux

So my aunt was reading my blog today and emailed a friend of hers about it who coincidentally went to the Interpol show in Seattle last Friday night. And also coincidentally happens to LOOOOVE Carlos D.!

So her friend J was nice enough to send this link of a really cool photo of Interpol by a local photographer in her area.

Here's what my aunt wrote me:
"I sent an excerpt from your blog to my friend J who is 26. She is
also a major Interpol and Carlos D fan. She replied "Hahahah! That's
hilarious! The cult of Carlos D. has a new member! I'm not the only
one that still thinks they are 12 and rock stars are dreamy!" Then she
sent me a web site to send to you. She saw Interpol last Friday night."

Dreamy! Hehe!

Here's what her friend J wrote:
"BTW: Here is a link for your niece...there are a ton of pics. 17 pages of good golly hotness!"

17 pages of Carlos D. hotness for your viewing pleasure.

Here's what J had to say about the show she went to Friday night.

Hey she's 26! At least I'm not totally outta touch for being my age. Haha. Kidding. I know, I'm not THAT old. Sorta. I like her write up though. I was way too lazy to write anything so linking to what she had to say is much better.

Oh, my friend Katherine (who went with me to the show) wrote this to me today in an email:
"That's awesome! I like what you posted. He must have a cult, there was the one guy who totally copied his look. Ha ha your personal ad would have "man of my dreams: bass playing George McFly""

Man, that's some funny s**t!!

I Wash Dishes but I Don't Do Windows

While I'm on the topic I was reading grrl.com and remembered that Bonnie Burton (who's site I've read for YEARS) had written some articles on dating. I realized that there was one that was somewhat applicable.

Dating dishwashers isn't sounding so bad at this point and I don't mean a guy who washes dishes. You'd think I'd learned that lesson by now considering how many times I've repeated it and how super-terrific it's worked out for me.

Since you're visiting her site you might as well read her Feb. 14th post, "Yet to have a real valentine's day...". Sometimes things people write just make you sit back and go WOW, I can TOTALLY relate.

Carlos D.!

I went and saw Interpol at the Warfield tonight. Wow, what a great show! I had goosebumps from the moment it started til the end. Melancholy and wonderful. I always loved them as a band but seeing them live just made me love them that much more. Definitely worth every penny.

Anyways as a result I realized that I have a bizzare crush on the bass player now. He has this Crispin Glover/Willard look and believe me, I never thought Crispin Glover was hot per se but Carlos D. rocks! I had to google him and put up a little picture shrine to him asap. Yes, I'm a teenager at heart.

This is the rest of the band...

Closer on DVD

I just realized Closer will be released on DVD March 29th! If you haven't seen this movie yet add it to your rental list, pre-order it, or go out and buy it when it comes out.

I also have the book which is basically the script for the play. I love it.

Some quotes from different scenes... (I've quoted Dan and Alice and not Larry and Anna because Alice was my favorite character in the film and she had the BEST lines.)

-------

"Where is this "love"? I can't see it, I can't touch it. I can't feel it. I can hear it. I can hear some words, but I can't do anything with your easy words." - Alice

--------

Alice: "It's the only way to leave: 'I don't love you anymore, good-bye.'"
Dan: "Supposing you do still love them?"
Alice: "You don't leave."
Dan: "You've never left someone you still love?"
Alice: "No."

--------

Dan: "I can't see you. If I see you I'll never leave you."
Alice: "What will you do if I find someone else?"
Dan: "Be jealous."
Alice: "Do you still fancy me?"
Dan: "Of course."
Alice: "You're lying. I've been 'you'."

---------

Dan: "I'll always love you. You changed my life. I hate hurting you."
Alice: "So why are you?"
Dan: "Because... I'm selfish and I think I'll be happer with her."
Alice: You won't, you'll miss me. No one will ever love you as much as I do."
Dan: "I know."
Alice: "Why isn't love enough? I'm the one who leaves. I'm supposed to leave you. I'm the one who leaves."

---------

Alice: "I don't love you anymore."
Dan: "Look...I'm sorry..."
Alice: "No, I've changed the subject. I don't love you anymore."
Dan: "Since when?"
Alice: "Now...just now. I don't want to lie and I can't tell the truth so it's over."
Dan: "Alice...don't leave me."
Alice: "I've left...I've gone. 'I don't love you anymore. Good-bye.'"

Missing Photos/Comments Update

FYI...

I didn't have to pay $150 for Verio to get me my files back. Because they were webfiles they gave me an FTP site to get them down from. So I don't totally hate Verio now. On the other hand I'm still happy I made the move to dreamhost. $9 for one year of hosting! Can't beat that with a stick!

So as you've probably already noticed. All blog photos are back. I'm working on setting the permissions again for the "Other comments" field so that will be out of commission for just a bit longer.

F VDay... Again!

One year ago on the 13th of February I broke up with my boyfriend of two years while eating dinner at Sweet Tomatoes (kind of like fresh choice but way better). The next day I don't remember doing much, maybe I went out? Sunday I do recall going to Cha Cha Cha and having a great lunch with my friends. I'm pretty sure I blogged about it.

This year once again I went through yet another break up, this time two weeks ago and once again I have no valentine. I'm wondering if it even matters if I have a valentine or not. I guess in some ways it would be nice to have that special someone. I mean I do have a special someone I care about but that doesn't mean they're going to be my valentine today.

So once again it will be me, the cat and the dog. I guess they'll always be my valentines. That's something! Maybe next year I'll finally get my valentine, the one that I get to keep. You know, everyone keeps saying February's my month! I have yet to see that happen. I'll just keep saying to myself "Buck up little camper". I think that works.

Bah Humbug.

I Love The Onion

Story of my life:

"Woman Begins to Regret Dating Someone Spontaneous"
-------
Bird's ex-boyfriend Steve Dandridge, whom she left last May after telling him he was "too boring," said his mellow, undemanding personality might offer Bird a refreshing change.

"I hear that guy she's going out with is running her ragged," Dandridge said. "I guess I could feel happy that I got my revenge, but the truth is, I still miss her. Heidi, if you want me back in your life, gimme a call. I usually go get dinner at 6:45 or 7:00, but I'm always back before CSI starts at 8:00."
-------

Hilarious!

Very Unfortunate

I'm a lunkhead and forgot to back up the "Other Comments" files and my hello published photo files. As a result there will be a lot of broken image posts. I'm not sure what to do about this since I deleted my old webserver acct. D'oh! I wonder if they have a backup?

Update:
Well verio does have a backup. But they're going to charge me $150 to get at my files. ARGH! I hate Verio. HATE HATE HATE!

HEADS UP!

This is an FYI to let you all know that I'm changing my webhosting services from Verio to DreamHost. Much more bang for my buck! As a result, sometime in the next day or two this site and my mail may be down temporarily while I make my move. I changed my name servers today so as soon as that goes into effect then there may be some downtime.

If you need to reach me you can email me from my myspace account which I check regularly or at my work account. Those of you who know me already know those addresses.

Thanks!

Bursting with... something

Look what my ENT told me to get! I got one! It's spiffy and has a "warm" mist. Apparently I'm not getting enough moisture. That's for sure. My lips are so chapped my mouth is starting to feel numb.

I also got some of this! Both daytime and nightime versions. You see this is my regular cold medicine but I discovered something new. It now comes with "Cool Burst".

In case you have trouble reading the fine print here's a photo.... Coooool Burst! Question: What IS cool burst? I can't figure out what makes this cool burst happen. I read the packaging and there seems to be no extra/new active or non-active ingredients from the old non-cool version. I took a couple and I felt a little tingly in the chest but there wasn't any bursting going on... As bored as I am I even looked it up on the tylenol website and all it says is that it now comes with "Cool Burst"! But there is no explanation of what this is... I'm a little afraid of this "Cool Burst" thing... why did I even buy it? I'm like a magpie. Ooh look shiny new thing! Must take, must buy!

If I drop dead you'll all know it was because of the "Cool Burst".

Sick AGAIN (Yes I know!)

My throat got sore two days ago... I tried to chalk it up to something. Who knows what. About mid-afternoon the cold struck.

I have an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat for the un-acronym'ed) appt. on Friday. I'd like to get to the bottom of the "I'm always sick" problem. This time around, I'm not missing work. I'll just keep my distance.

On another note, you may have noticed the uber-cool flickr.com feature I added to your right. I can take photos with my camera phone, email it to my special flickr email address and my blog updates with the photo immediately. Wooooo! Downsides: No flash on my camera phone and I take lousy photos. Who'd have thought I'd turn out like this when my dad was an amateur photographer and my mom a painter? All I can do is play the piano. That's something at least. Artistically speaking, as in color, lighting, drawing what have you... I suck.

Also, a little reminder to take my new Valentine's poll, also located to your right at the bottom of the page.

Here's a valentine's day perk. I love the chocolate chip ones... Plus I'm a sucker for the pink and red heart/flower decorations, the cheesy packaging and the 2 for 1 deal at Safeway.
