One of My Favorite Things

Amrah sent me this card years ago. One of her many original ideas for a holiday card. I love this card and I'll probably keep it forever.

Peacock Necklace Project

The crystal one I made and wore to my best friend Dave's wedding on Sunday. The green earring and necklace set I made for my friend Sam who liked my necklace. I shortened it two inches so it would fit her better. Both sets were made with Swarovski crystals.

The next peacock earring/necklace set I will make will be for Dave's sister Michelle, who liked mine so much at the wedding she offered to pay me to make her one. As if I'd charge her! Michelle's will be made in gold with pink swarovski crystals.

Mercury Retrograde Time Again!

Okay I'm not a big believer in this stuff per se but... eh whatever. Yup, It's that time again... Mercury Retrograde. Where everything that can go wrong will go wrong! Like I need ANY more help with things going wrong right now.

Gemini: With your mercurial ruler retrograde, double-check everything! You may want to finish projects, rather than begin new ones. This cycle affects you more strongly, so expect travel and communications delays.

Courtesy of Andrea at Virgo in Service. She does great astrological charts etc. if you're into that sort of thing. Nice lady too! I first met her about ten years ago if you can believe that! Wow. I really like her romantic compatability charts. She can send you those in email.

Here's some more info on the Mercury Rx for those of you who are interested.

And please... no comments about how this stuff is crap etc. Thanks I got it already!

Knitted Wristbands and Earring Projects

I take the lousiest photos with my digicam. I have yet to master the art of this. So in the meantime bear with me through these partially blurry crappy photos.

The first item is a 'cracky' wristband I made for my friend Jackie. That's her nickname. I used cotton blend yarn for the black and this puffy pulled cotton looking pink fluff for the other yarn. The cuffs are ribbed with three rows on each side. The pictures really don't do it justice. I know the letters look a bit messy in these pics but I trimmed up the fuzz and when you wear it the letters lay out much nicer.

The second item was done with the same materials. Except this one was for me and it's a giant M. The only problem is I doubled up the yarn on the pink and it made a pretty large puffy M. I have to take pictures of the gigantic puffy heart one I made which is way too puffy. I'll add those later.

I designed all my own wristbands using graph paper to lay out the designs. No more copying out of books!

The last item is my first foray into beading, jewelry making and wire bending. My first pair of earrings made from silver findings, silver wire and lampwork beads as well as two small crystal disc beads.

Tuesday Was Better

Just a quick update. I met with my doc. We talked for awhile and came to some conclusions and made some decisions which I think will be good for awhile. I had some actual laughs today and enjoyed some aspects of my job too. I felt better today. I got some nice and fun emails from some people far away. Tomorrow hopefully I will make it to my workout and I'm doing this trivia quiz night thing at a pub tomorrow night in SF with some new friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Rob and Amber on the Amazing Race tonight. Best Amazing Race EVER! Go Rob and Amber! Chris and I were saying we should have applied for this season just so we could screw everyone else up and help Rob and Amber win cause they ROCK. Hah! I knit a couple of wristbands tonight too. I'm working on some new designs. Pics to follow later.

I'll start jewelry making this weekend which will be a fun new hobby I think. My friend Dave gets married on Sunday. Wow. We've been friends since I was 16. I never thought I'd see the day he got married but here it almost is. I'm happy for him though, he got lucky and found a great girl. I can only hope to get so lucky. With a guy though of course. :)

Night night.

I'm not unhappy I just am.

I have no idea what's wrong with me these days. I wish I could put a finger on what it is but I really can't. I act out on it in different ways whether at work or at friends but it never really makes any sense to me what the cause of is. Whatever it is it has me in a state of perpetual nothingness. I have no reason to be unhappy or depressed yet I'm not happy either. I'm nothing. I hate it though. Sometimes I'm nothing and I dip lower and sometimes I'm just normal. I forget what really being happy is like anymore.

I have a doctor that I see every few weeks to talk about medications and such. I have a meeting with him tomorrow. We have a lot of important things to discuss which may affect my life somewhat from here on out. Whatever he decides though will be important for me because I can't stand living in this nothingness anymore. I really would like to be happy and even sad at times. The blahs are a real drag though.

The worst feeling is the one I have of everyone being happy around me and finding enjoyment out of what they do except for me. I can't seem to do it. I know it sounds like I'm depressed and in some ways I am but I'm just dead inside as well. I used to be able to get inspired to do things and I still sometimes do. I still knit and I even knit some wristbands for some friends. I have pictures I still need to post. I'm thinking of books to read and projects to do but still nothing's really clicking for me overall.

We'll see what the doc has to say tomorrow I guess. Something to look forward to out of everything else that I don't look forward to.

Congratulations! You scored 81%!

You made it out, alive and well supplied. You probably even kept most of your party alive too. You know what to look for, what to take, and when to just run. You even feel a strange inkling to go back. If you did, you'd probably do just fine.

Which Religion is the Right One for You?

You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. You neither believe nor disbelieve in God. You don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).

Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

The Notebook

Not to be a complete and total sap but I loved this movie. Make sure you have at least one box of kleenex while watching this movie. It's so heart wrenching and wonderful. Oh and Ryan Gosling is pretty hot too.

I also liked the discussion it provoked on the imdb message boards.

Read about it here.

"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that's what you've given me." - Noah

Knitting Wristbands Again

My friend Theo is in a band called The Teenage Harlets. They always wear these cross bone arm bands with a break in the bones. Since I'm a knitting fool Theo asked me to knit that pattern into a wristband. I didn't have any thinner yarn and I wanted to make sure my pattern wasn't a complete bust.

I knit a sample swatch with thick merino wool yarn. This is actually quite big. About 8 1/2 by 5 1/2. I like how the pattern turned out so I drew up a smaller version on graph paper. I'm now working on knitting the actual wristband. I'm not sure excited about the yarn I'm using since it's so thin. Plus I have to use size 5 knitting needles which are really small. We'll see how well it turns out.

I also felted this sucker just for the heck of it. I'm not sure I like it felted since the black fuzz got all over the white but it was my first attempt at felting anything knit so I'm actually happy I gave it a try.

Here's a photo of the knit sample I completed:

New Poll

I added a new poll yesterday to the right side column. This one deals with suggestions for this blog. Please weigh in if you like. I didn't post the valentine's day poll results because I didn't feel like it.

Also not everyone will understand the meaning of the countdown clock. But some of you will and you'll know why it matters.

Good night everyone.
