Missing Wallet Update or Why IKEA Sucks

So I got a call last Friday from IKEA letting me know that they'd found my wallet. Can you believe it? I reported it missing July 20th! It's been over a month! What the...? Anyways I called them today to let them know I'd be in to pick it up after work. Amazingly enough the cash I had it in is still there. That's nice. Yay extra pocket money!

Here's the stupid part. So the day after I lost my wallet and the day after that and even a week later I called IKEA back to check to see if they'd found my wallet. Nope. Nothing. They kept saying they'd call me back if they did. So I ask the woman I'm talking to today when and where it was found. She doesn't know exactly where they found it but she says that it was found on July 21st at 5pm. The day after I lost it. Idiots. She can't figure out why no one called me about it.

So on the one hand I'm annoyed. I had to buy a new wallet, replace all my cards, report identity theft etc etc etc. On the other hand, I did get a fabulous new wallet which I love and I know all about what to do if you happen to prevent identity theft. I had to get a new friggin' license! Ugh.

Anyways, yet another reason why I hate IKEA. I don't understand why they hire so many incompetent rude people there. There's usually about one good person out of a whole entire store. Pretty sad.

Green is the new Pink

I've been shopping in the last couple of weeks. That may not seem like news to you since I'm generally a compulsive shopper but not in the last couple of months! Instead I spend all my free time playing World of Warcraft like the dork that I am so I haven't been out spending money much... this is a good thing.

Anyways, I noticed myself liking green stuff. Green shirts, green purses... I bought a new green sparkly wallet too. I'll post a picture later. It's oh so very nice. I'm pining away for a green purse I like very much right now. There are so many nice greens clothing type things out there!

I thought purple was going to be the new pink but that didn't catch on. It'll be green. Mark my words! You heard it here first! GREEEEN. That is unless of course it came and went already and my being out of comission for a couple of months has screwed up my trend cycle.

Oh whatever. Wait til you see the new green wallet. Then you'll know the power of the green!

Everyone really DOES get their 15 min...

I started watching this show that started last week on NBC. It's a certain legal reality show. I'm being vague because the last thing I want to have happen is for someone to pull this post up in reference to this show. Anyways, there was a case on there about a dispute between a dominatrix and a guy who created her website. He claimed that he was a partner in the business and that he owned the domain name and the website. She claimed he didn't and that he shut her site down when she didn't pay him money that she owed him as a partner.

So I'm watching this show and they're advising this guy to not be a freak in front of the judge. His attorneys, in interviews, are talking about how he's a loose cannon could jeopardize their case. This guy gets in front of the judge and acts like an intense, scary, crazy kook and then I start to think, hrm why does that voice sound familar? That guy sort of looks familiar... Oh my god.. , I know that name! I KNOW THAT GUY! I haven't seen this guy in 14 years. He used to live one building over from me in Oakland. He lived with some guys I knew back then that had moved near me. We had a lot of mutual friends. This guy was intense, weird, yet seemed to be fun at times. He had really crazy stories about being a heroin addict and almost dying many many times. But overall he seemed okay when we met him. Like a reformed person. Or so we thought.

Then one day he started shooting up heroin again. He would come talk to us and nod off mid conversation. He started getting eratic and out of control. It got to the point where my ex-boyfriend and I stopped talking to him altogether which started some sort of feud. I don't remember all the details anymore. What I do remember is one night he got really crazy, took a baseball bat or something like that and smashed in the windshield of my ex-boyfriend's truck. He fully admitted it after the fact and I remember being scared for my ex everytime he had to leave the house. I was scared for myself as well. Eventually that guy took off and we never saw him again. I figured he must have gone off somewhere and overdosed and died or something. Who knew.

Then I see him on this show. It really freaked me out. The worst part was he won the stupid case. If only the judge knew what a complete psycho this guy was. I'm willing to bet that he was in the wrong on this one. He looked like he was existing and living in decent conditions on the show but overall he still came across as crazy. You know, if you don't want your kids to ever do heroin, just put them in a room with someone like this for a couple of hours. That should put them off it altogether for life. Disgusting. Personally I'm disguisted he was even put on a tv show. Not that I should be suprised though, it's reality tv.

He terrorized people both physically and mentally and honestly I'm afraid for other people out there that have to deal with him. Hopefully the woman he went up against on this tv show won't get terrorized by him. UGH. I have to go email my ex now to let him know. Gosh, he's probably the only one left from back then that knows this guy. Crazy... I'm still freaked out!

Willie Wonka... Blah.

So I finally went and saw the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... For those of you haven't seen it or read any Tim Burton interviews this is NOT a remake of the original. Instead, as Tim Burton claims, it's a more faithful interpretation of the book. He also claims he's never seen the original and the guy who wrote the screenplay neveer saw the original either. I can't believe that there are actually people out there that never saw the original. Well.. okay I can believe it but I can't believe Tim Burton NEVER saw it. EVER.

Anyways, I'm a HUGE HUGE HUGE Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fan. I read the books, saw the Gene Wilder movie etc etc etc. I went to this movie thinking that it would be different and I'd read the hordes of fabulous reviews about the movie so I was thinking it would probably be pretty great. Let me preface anything else I'm going to say with the fact that I did go see this alone which may or may not affect my opinion of this. Probably does affect it since I think other people's opinions can affect how you feel about it movie at the time you've seen it.

Alrighty... moving along. So, I didn't like it that much. Maybe I'm the ONLY one out there but honestly I didn't dig it. I hated the Oompa Loompas. I wasn't a huge fan of the original ones per se but I hated the new stupid songs and the one actor playing 195 different Oompa Loompas. To be honest he creeped me out. Maybe he was supposed to be less than cute and somewhat creepy but I didn't like it. Also I hate it when Tim Burton does musical crap. I hated the James and the Giant Peach songs, and the Nightmare Before Christmas music. Ugh. Same goes for this one. UGH.

Johnny Depp was good in that character acting weirdo kind of way. He was so obviously being a weirdo though that I wasn't sure if I liked his character or not. The kid from Finding Neverland who played Charlie was pathetic and sad looking enough but whatever with his character. I didn't like Grandpa Joe. Let's face it, I loved the actors from the first movie. That's the movie I grew up with and any new movie, no matter how good it's supposed to be probably wasn't going to do it for me. There can be only one Charlie!

Also, I love how Tim Burton rambles on about how his is based off the book more than the original. Yes to a degree it is, but all that back story about Willie Wonka's childhood is all new and he changed the ending to drag it out longer. Why put that much into that part of the story when he could have put more into the candy factory bits? It just wasn't very magical to me. At least the first movie had more to look at in terms of what was in the factory. I will say that the squirrels shelling nuts bit in the new movie was really cute. I loved the squirrels. Something that was changed in the first movie to geese laying golden eggs. Probably didn't know how to do the squirrels right in the 70's. It was weird with no fizzy lifting scene in the new one either. That wasn't in the book so of course it wasn't in the new movie but that scene was so very much a part of the story to me after having seen the first movie a million times that it was weird without it.

I would recommend this movie as a rental, not anything that you have to see in the theater. You know, I think I'm just sick of Tim Burton movies. They're just not cool like they used to be. I don't even know if I'm going to see the Corpse Bride in the theater at this point. We'll see.
