The Outsiders

I loved this movie! I cried during this move. I cried everytime I watched it like ten times after the first time I'd seen it. I got emotional everytime I heard "Stay Gold" by Stevie Wonder. I read all of S.E. Hinton's books because of this movie and I still have my first copy of The Outsiders to this day. The 80's were a great decade for movies, crazy fashion and music. I miss it. Coppola's putting out a 20th anniversay edition of The Outsiders this year. I can't believe it's been TWENTY YEARS! Holy crap!

Remember this?

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

-- Robert Frost

Crafters United / Storm Victims Aid

I'm crafty and this caught my eye tonight while I was viewing other people's blogs and trying to think of things I could do to donate to the Katrina storm victims.

Anyways, it's a start....
http://www.crafters-united.com/

I really like the idea of this site in general. Plus if you buy stuff the money goes to charity to help all the people affected by the storm. You know, if you read/watch the news half-heartedly and think to yourself, wow this sucks but it didn't happen to me so life goes on... Remember Loma Prieta? Those of us in California are not immune to natural disasters happening to us at any time.

As the man on the radio said today, It's always earthquake season. Be prepared. Keep emergency kits around your house. Make sure you have a way to contact friends and family in emergencies. Maybe some sort of website you could use to check in to. Whatever you have to do to make sure you're prepared.

It's devestating what happened in New Orleans. I could go on and on about what a screw up that was, how much Bush sucks and so on. But many people have said it much better than I have. I truly hope we can rebuild the gulf states, particularly a treasure like New Orleans.

In case you haven't read this CNN Anderson Cooper transcript by now, please do:
