The New Year
Not much has been going since the last time I posted that wasn't somehow involved with WoW. I posted some new photos on flicker of me on NYE which was a fun time. Jeremy, Sabine and I headed to a party at Dave and Ken's house to start. Their annual "Sausage Party". I keep wanting to call it the Sausage Fest... but I digress. Anyways our whole usual gang was there and that was a ton of fun. After midnight we headed over to another party where my other friends were. This party was a bit different since it involved meeting a lot of new people and was split between a few floors as opposed to party 1 where everyone crammed into the kitchen to dance to Disco. Party 2 had my friend spinning at midnight and lots of living room dancing, different vibe.
Other than that, this year has been pretty quiet so far! Our guild made it's first run to Molten Core this weekend and we did 9/10 bosses. This could seem like a huge accomplishment for a first time run with a new guild but we have lots of experienced players so it added tons to our success. The next few months should be pretty exciting. It was really weird hearing the people that I've been playing with over the last month or so talking on Team Speak as well. I have to say, everyone sounds pretty darn cool.. if you can judge by voices. We're cool, we're hip, we're hawt! :D
Other than that I've met some really awesome people that I'd consider to be friends beyond the game via the game. I of course also know some people in the game in real life as well since quite a few work at Microsoft and my ex plays also! Other than all that I will say I met someone else in the game that I like very much and we spend a lot of time playing together and talking. I don't know if you can meet someone in the game and with distance etc actually form any type of real relationship with them but it seems real enough to me. Hey that's how someone I know in game met her boyfriend... first in game, then addtional online interaction, then in person and now... super happy! I'm not saying this is what exactly is going to happen but it's definitely fun and really nice.

Hi I want to tell you thanks, I did a search for the song Soul Meets Body, I didnt know all the lyrics or the title or the band . Your web site came up with the whole song , Thanks Henry
Be careful falling for someone in a game. i bet you dollars to doughnuts that all of their friends in game are female, and he makes them all think they are special, and treats them the exact same way he treats you.....he will probally admit that most his friends in game are female, but reasure you that you not the same, and that hes not joking arround with you and you are special.
im not trying to say anything other then be careful, you seem like a nice person =)
its only natural to start to like a person you are spending alot of time with [even if it be in a game].

It's true that it's best to err on the side of caution when encountering people online. Believe me I'm the last person you'd probably ever find liking someone that I met online. I'm generally really skeptical about these types of relationships.
I think the question is how far does it go with someone before it really becomes "real"? Besides in-game flirting and chat. Maybe beyond the usual online photo/mail exchanges and telephone calls. Does it take meeting them in real life?
Then beyond that, what makes it real? I know there are many people online that prey on people like this. I'm sure it happens ALL the time. In fact I know it does. But the best I can do is trust in my own judgement and my own experiences with this person and see how things pan out.
The observation about all of their friends in the game being female is interesting. Something for people to keep an eye out for probably.
Thanks for the post. :)
