I'm a semi-closeted Incubus fan

Brandon Boyd has an AMAZING voice (and he's hot). If you're not an incubus fan watch these vids and bask in the soaring vocal awesomeness.

Acoustic goodness.

I'm not a fan of this video per se. It was the I Dig Incubus contest winner. The song flippin' rules though. I have this album, it's super good.

Chris Cornell is hotter than ever

I jut got into two conversations about this in the last month. The most recent was last Friday. Ian and I agreed that Chris Cornell not only had it going on back in the Soundgarden days (who I saw live in like, 1992) he DEFINITELY has it going on now. Totally do-able in my book. He's up on my super hot older guys list in the second slot, okay maybe first at this point. Hubba hubba. The best part of the following video clip is you get double hotness. Chris Cornell AND Daniel Craig. Get ready to drool.

The song is pretty killer too.

Justin Timberlake makes me laugh!

Maybe this is a guilty pleasure (to my friends probably), but I love Justin Timberlake! I disliked N'Sync, except for one song maybe, but I love solo Justin. I even bought his latest album the day it came out. He's really talented. I mean it! And NO I have NEVER been a 'boy band' fan. I think it's cool to like a wide variety of music. There's so much out there why get stuck on one type?

Anyways he did SNL recently and it was hilarious. I'm sure most of you have seen the 'Dick in a Box' skit. It's spread like wildfire. Just in case you haven't though here's the uncensored version. A must see. I'm also including a few other choice hilarious skits.

I thought 'Homelessville' was even funnier. This is a followup to an earlier show where he did a skit called 'Omletteville'.

Here's 'Omletteville'. Dance Break!

If you're not a JT fan here's a few primer vids for you. His latest album is called 'FutureSex / LoveSounds'.

Here's his first big single off his latest album. 'Sexy Back'. The concept and the way he modified his voice for the song is really cool. He sang the song through a modulator. They didn't do it after the fact.

His latest single, "My Love". This is the video for it.

Here's the live SNL version. Introduced by Cameron Diaz. I read recently they either just broke up or broke up a couple of weeks ago and it just became public (I read perezhilton.com and Pink is the New Blog daily!). They dated for 3 1/2 years or something. This is in line with my theory of "If they don't want to marry you after year two (or one), then they probably never will". I've known a lot of couples who pass a certain point and NEVER get married. You can make that statement say year 3 or 4 but not much more than that. I've also seen quite a few "We were going to break up but we got married instead" couples. They usually lasted through 6 months of marriage then got divorced. This generally occurs after year four. Either that or they are both commitment-phobes (true) or they really didn't break up. Yes yes, who the hell cares. Okay, tangent DONE. Back to the clip!

EDIT: ** This one is longer available. NBC doesn't like their live performances to be out and about on YouTube. **

I like JT's older stuff too but it was even LESS popular to admit that back then. :P That was back when I was a closeted fan.

If you go to youtube.com and type 'Justin Timberlake SNL' you can find all kinds of fun clips. I like the Nick Lachey/Jessica Simpson skit with Jimmy Fallon (another guy who rules!) as Nick and Justin as Jessica. Too funny. I guess you had to watch 'Newlyweds' to think it's funny, or at least be up on current 'celebrity' events.

EDIT: I had to fix this post because (one reason why I hate youtube) some of the videos were no longer available. Bleh. Anyways while I was there finding the link again for the Newlyweds clip I found the original clip. Here you go!

PS: Email me if these things don't work.

I <3 Rick Springfield

So Hard to Hold was on tonight. That old Rick Springfield movie from the 80's. It's pretty painfully cheesy to watch now but I had every 80's album of his including that soundtrack which I played until the tape wore out. Some of those songs are still pretty good too! I thought about getting the CD again but it's out of print and like $54 bucks on ebay (for the CD not the cassette!). I actually think I may still have some cassettes stored away somewhere but I can't imagine that still being good/playable after all these years. I should dig them up and see what I have. I probably got rid of most of them.

Anyways I remember seeing Rick Springfield in People magazine not long ago and he looks really friggin' good for his age. Like 'amazing', 'i'd totally go out with him even though he's old'. Not that he wasn't already like SUPER HOT in the 80's. He's SUPER HOT in that movie too if you're into Rick Springfield. He still tours actually and he's back on General Hospital too. He's 57. That's almost as old as my Dad. Crazy. He was basically my age when he did that Hard to Hold. I was 13. I remember being a kid thinking that I'd never be able to talk in blocks of ten year periods like, "yeah ten years ago etc". Now I can in blocks of 20. :(

I found this quote by him actually while looking up stuff tonight:
“Maybe I should write a book about it, the way everybody focuses on it!” Springfield says of his appearance. “I've always eaten well and exercised and I love what I'm doing and that helps. I've gone through phases where I've been miserable and looked like crap and I'm a big believer that what's inside shows on the outside.”

Anyways check out Rick Springfield's website and photos and see for yourself.

Or you can watch this cool "Where are they now?" clip I found on You Tube.

If you're really bored check out this Concert Cliff Notes site. It's pretty entertaining and wow the detail. Rabid fans!

Actually now that I'm talking about cheesey 80's movie I remember my Aunt Brenda taking me to see American Anthem and getting the soundtrack for me. That movie had Mitch Gaylord the gymnast in it. It was super cool at the time but watching it now is just painful. I loved the 80's though!

Rufus Wainwright

He may not be for everyone but I love his music. I think I first fell in love with him when I heard 'Complainte de la Butte' from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. One of my most favorite movies of all time. I love paris and the song is so very parisian so it's a fave as well.

Be sure to check him out: http://www.rufuswainwright.com/

Anyways tonight I was listening to a song of his called 'Foolish Love'. I decided to do a search on what the song meant. Music is so emotional with so much depth and meaning to it. I love it.

Foolish Love
"It's about the type of person you fall in love with who, when you take one look at him, you know it will end tragically. You know you can never really have him, but it's what you've always wanted-impossible love. It's rather up-tempo and happy-sounding but still sad. I remember writing it almost like a mantra, saying to myself, "Lighten up and trudge on." That's all you can do. Get out with class, the way Cole Porter would."

Foolish Love
by Rufus Wainwright

I don't want to hold you and feel so helpless
I don't want to smell you and lose my senses
And smile in slow motion
With eyes in love

I twist like a corkscrew
The sweetness rising
I drink from the bottle, weeping
Why won't you last?
Why can't you last

So i will walk without care
Beat my snare
Look like a man who means business
Go to all the poshest places
With their familiar faces
Terminate all signs of weakness
Oh, all for the sake of a foolish love

I will take my coffee black
Never snack
Hang with the wolves who are sheepish
Flow through the veins of town
Always frown
Me and my mistress, the princess
Oh, all for the sake of a foolish love

So the day noah's ark floats down park
My eyes will be simply glazed over
Or better yet
I'll wear shades on sunless days
And when the sun's out, i'll stay in and slumber
Oh, all for the sake of a foolish love
All for the sake of a foolish love

Cause i don't want to hold you and feel so helpless
I don't want to smell you and lose my senses
And smile in slow motion
With eyes in love
